UPDATE: 31st October 2020

Due to the government announcement, made on 31st October 2020, Tonic will be CLOSED for business from Thursday 5th November to Wednesday 2nd December 2020.

All appointments booked in between 5th November and the expected end date of the national lockdown (Wednesday 2nd December) will be cancelled. Those that have appointments in the diary for after the expected end date will remain active. We will be reassessing the December diary and releasing as many appointments as possible to reschedule those of you booked in November, and those that wanted an appointment in December.

Those with vouchers due to expire between the above dates, we will honour your vouchers for 4 weeks when this National lockdown has been released.

We are STILL OPEN MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY this week. The diary is being tweaked as we speak and appointment hours are being made available. Please get in touch if you wish to book an appointment before lockdown on Thursday. Via email info@tonic-cheltenham.com. We are understandably fielding a lot of interest, we will get back to you as soon as possible!

Stay safe, stay healthy and we would like to remind you we are at the end of an email if you need any support or we can help in anyway.

Best wishes,

Kerry & The Tonic Team

Tonic – Guidelines and processes for reopening & operating whilst protecting staff and clients against Covid-19. Please read in full prior to your appointment with us.

Reception Area

  • We will be operating a closed door policy. This means we are strictly appointment only to limit the flow of visitors in to the salon. We respectfully ask clients not to enter the building without an appointment. Making appointments, voucher purchasing and product purchasing can be done over the phone 01242 260425, via email info@tonic-cheltenham.com or via our website www.tonic-cheltenham.com

  • To enable social distancing, we will have no waiting room facilities at present. If possible, we ask that you arrive a few minutes early for your scheduled appointment time. Your therapist will come to the door at your appointment time and welcome you in. At this time, we will struggle to accommodate those that are early or late for their appointments. Please be aware if you are unable to make your allotted appointment time, we may have to reschedule you. Please also be aware that there will always be a team member in reception, they will NOT be able to open the door for you, even if they see you outside. We aren't ignoring you! We are just trying to minimize multiple person contact during your visit.

  • Please attend your appointment alone. We cannot accept friends/family/children in appointments because of the need to social distance. We just don't have the capacity in the salon currently for extra bodies!

  • There will be signs in the reception area to guide and help you to keep a 1+m social distance from our team members and other guests. We ask you to refrain from handling products on display; to prevent cross infection.

  • On arrival to the salon we request you wear a mask or face covering. This has now become compulsory to wear. If you have your own that you can bring then please do, if you do not, we have some available in the salon for you to purchase. Please do NOT come in wearing gloves. Gloves worn not in accordance with guidelines can actually help spread infection. We will then request you wash your hands on arrival to the salon and on exit.

  • You will be reminded of the Covid-19 pre-screening questions once again that you will have been sent 24 hours prior to your appointment. If you have a temperature, are generally unwell, have a persistent cough or are forced to self isolate then you must not come in to the salon.

Treatments and Treatment rooms

Enhanced Hygiene Procedures

  • We have added additional time after every treatment to allow the team to fully clean the treatment area and communal areas that have been used. Tools will be thoroughly disinfected after use and stored in sterile conditions between use.

  • Therapists will be wearing nitrile gloves for all required treatments, these will be changed after every client.

  • They will also be wearing a face visor and a mask as well where necessary during all treatments.

  • There are also tissues and hand sanitizer available in each treatment room and at each station for your use. If you sneeze/cough please use a tissue and bin the tissue immediately, then use hand sanitizer afterwards.

Vouchers

  • If you have a voucher that expired between the 23rd March 2020 and our reopening date, then we are happy to give a 3 MONTH EXTENSION from the date we reopen, to allow you to use your voucher. Please let us know when you book that you have a voucher and it's original expiry date.

  • Vouchers purchased for specific treatments, that we are no longer able to offer will be valid instead for the monetary value of the treatment at time of purchase. For example, we will be unable to offer the “Divine Duo” treatment at present. This will therefore be worth £65, which you are able to spend on other treatments instead.

  • If your voucher is for a treatment such as “1 hour Swedish massage” that has altered in price since it was purchased, we will honour the original purchase price and you will not be expected to pay extra.

Refreshment and Client Experience

  • To help prevent cross infection, at this time we will be unable to offer the usual client refreshments. There will be water in disposable cups available to you. Please do not bring food and drink into the salon, this is to help reduce cross infection.

  • We have changed the towels we use throughout your treatments. Because of the requirements to launder each towel on 60 degree wash cycle after every use, we do not have the capacity to achieve this in the salon. Therefore we have switched to single use towels for EVERY treatment. The towels are produced by a brand called Scrummi, and are fully biodegradable and proven to degrade between 8 – 12 weeks.

  • The magazines we usually have in the salon have been removed. You are invited to bring a phone/book/your own magazine if you wish.

  • Please only bring with you the bare necessities to your appointment, i.e. a small bag/phone/jacket. This is because we have little room to store items in accordance with government guidelines. You will be asked to place all outerwear in a sterile box and leave in reception.

  • Toilet – Our toilet will remain open, but please ensure after use, you have notified a member of staff. Between each use we will perform a full clean of the bathroom facilities; letting us know you have used our facilities will enable us to maintain rigorous hygiene standards.

  • We CANNOT accept cash payments. For now we ask that you pay via card or online. Ask a staff member for more information. We also ask that rebooking and voucher purchases be completed via phone or email after your appointment.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this document. I hope you understand these procedures are here to keep you and our staff members safe. If you have any questions, please do get in touch via email info@tonic-cheltenham.com or phone 01242 260425.

Update: 11th July 2020

Firstly, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our clients and friends of Tonic who have been such a brilliant support to Tonic throughout this tough period.

Secondly, I'll try to keep this brief & informative

Re-opening date: Saturday 18th July 2020. This is the first day we will be taking appointments from. Staff will be in the salon for training and preparations during the week.

Appointment booking: We will contact you to get you booked in, this will happen over the next week. You are likely to get a call from a private number or mobile number ending in 314 which will be me! We are working through our client diary from before lockdown and then contacting everyone on our waiting list. If you still want an appointment but have not contacted us already, send your name and number to list@tonic-cheltenham.com and we will ensure you get a call. Online booking is disabled currently, to ensure everything runs smoothly we felt a manual approach was necessary.

The salon will be following these guidelines closely, to ensure your experience when you visit us is as safe as possible. A risk assessment and further information will be available publicly in due course, prior to us opening. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5ef2889986650c12970e9b57/working-safely-during-covid-19-close-contact-services-090720.pdf

In relation to the guidelines, I'm sorry to announce there are some treatments we are unable to offer as these have been excluded as a condition of beauty salons being able to reopen. We will keep a close eye on the advice and hope to be able to offer these safely as soon as we are allowed. The treatments we cannot offer are ANYTHING on the face, including:

Eyebrow Waxing
Eyebrow/Lash Tinting
LVL's
The Eye Opener
Facial Waxing
Yon Ka Facials
Divine Duo Facial treatment

Pregnancy Massage

In addition to this we will also be unable to perform

Hot Stone Massage

Indian Head Massage

Body scrubs

Holistic Body Heaven

I hope this announcement finds you all well. Thank you so much for your patience over the last few months. Bear with me over the next week; the whole team will be working flat out to ensure a smooth, safe return. We cannot wait to see you all and get the salon buzzing again 😊xx

Updated 9th July 2020:

Following the government announcement at 5pm this evening.... Beauty Salons are officially allowed to re-open (in a Covid Secure fashion) from Monday 13th July.
This news is incredibly welcome. The team have jobs to come back to, and we cannot wait to see you lovely lot very soon!! I was going to do a video announcement but I'm too emotional; and I'm dressed in decorating gear as I'm jazzing up the reception area as we speak.
We won't be opening on Monday, as to become Covid-Secure there is a LOT to finalise. But we are hoping to be open sooner rather than later and will announce our reopening date by the weekend.
Email list@tonic-cheltenham.com to be added to the waiting list. You WILL be called shortly if you have already emailed and we will get you booked in.
I am off to have a wee glass of wine (or 2). The team at Tonic and our clients mean the absolute world to me. Thank you all so much for your support since day one. (I will sign off now before this turns into an Oscar's speech!)
Lots of love,
Kerry & the whole team xxxx

Updated 23rd June 2020:
In addition to the update below, dated 22nd June. We are sorry to announce that the government has said that beauty salons are NOT to open on 4th July 2020. As yet, there has been no date either confirmed or suggested.
We are still running our waiting list for appointments when we are allowed to reopen. Please email list@tonic-cheltenham.com with your name and number and you will be contacted when we have a solid opening date to get you booked in.
We are available to answer any questions you may have, just email us info@tonic-cheltenham.com. Although I'm afraid we don't have a crystal ball at present, so predicting opening dates is not something we are able to do.
Thank you for your patience. We cannot wait to welcome you back when it is safe and we are allowed to do so.
Updated 22nd June 2020:
We want to extend a huge thank you to all our clients and friends of Tonic who have been so supportive over the last 3 months. Tomorrow, Boris Johnson is expected to confirm a date for Beauty Salons like us, to be allowed to reopen. At the moment we are working on this being 4th July 2020 - but we will wait for the announcement as of tomorrow.
Once we get this, there will still be a LOT to organise before we can understand how we can open the salon safely. We are currently running a waiting list for appointments; email list@tonic-cheltenham.com with your name and a contact number to be put on the list.
As soon as we know how we can reopen safely, we will get in touch directly with those on the list and get you booked in. Hopefully this will be before the end of the week (Friday 26th June).  With all the new restrictions in place, we aren't opening our online booking as yet.

We thank you for your continued support at this time. You will still be able to purchase Gift Vouchers online, with an extended validity period so there will be plenty of time to redeem them. We are also being flexible with vouchers already purchased and will happily extend all vouchers that would otherwise have expired before you have chance to use them. If you have questions, or need help with anything at all please get in touch and send us an email! info@tonic-cheltenham.com
We wish you health and happiness at this uncertain time. Please join us on Social Channels Facebook and Instagram where the team will be keeping in touch, developing exciting content and providing light relief throughout this period of isolation.  Best wishes, Kerry & the Tonic Team xxx

As of the 20th March 2020 - Tonic is temporarily CLOSED. This is due to the request from the government that "Spas, wellness centres and massage parlours" close their doors immediately.
